Increasing Employee Morale and Reducing Stress

Did you know that approximately 50% of employees say stress and personal issues are the most common reasons for work absence and that 49% of employees lose an hour of productivity or more each day (that’s right, each day!) due to stress? This impacts YOUR bottom line.

So what can YOU as the business owner or HR point of contact do to reduce this number? Here are just two, of many possibilities. Consider putting together a company picnic as a way to offer a token of appreciation for your employees. Many companies use the summer picnic as a way to say thank you to their employees who work hard throughout the year. Studies have shown that workers who feel appreciated typically feel motivated to work harder for an employer. So while hotdogs and a game of beanbags may not seem like much, it can create the opportunity to say thanks to your employees in a memorable way.

Another option is to offer employee a stress management workshop. These can be offered virtually, on-site and even during lunch. The workplace can be a strong contributor to mental wellbeing, giving the opportunity to feel productive and achieve potential. Yet, it can also be a negative and stressful environment, which contributes to the rise of mental health problems and illnesses. These workshops can help you, your leaders and your team members promote mental well-being within your business. Stress management workshops assist your employees in being able to better manage stress with the goal that happier, less stressed employees come to work and are more productive.
