Mark Cooper, MS, LSW, CHT

I am a Licensed Social Worker with over 30 years of experience working with a variety of individuals. I received my bachelor’s in psychology at Eastern Illinois University and then my master’s in educational psychology and counseling at Eastern Illinois University. I practiced in Illinois for over ten years in private practice as well with the local mental health facility. I then moved to Ohio in 1997 and began to work in both outpatient mental health services and private practice. I have extensive experience in a variety of therapy settings, crisis intervention, and coaching.

I have worked with a wide variety of ages and issues. I have experience with children, teenagers, adults, and geriatric populations. Over the years, I have ran many groups addressing parenting issues and concerns, anger management, future planning and goal setting. Other areas I have worked with include anxiety, behavioral disorders, mood disorders, post-partum depression, and more.

I believe that the key to change is a true desire to want your life to be better. We as individuals have often allowed our self-defeating behaviors to conquer us and it has been my goal throughout my years of practice to help others take back control. How this is achieved is through a variety of techniques that include: Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Neuro-linguistic Programming, Relaxation Therapy, Hypnosis and time management skills.

It is ultimately a mindfulness approach to addressing ones needs, ambition, and goals. Far too often in general therapy sessions, professionals, as well clients lose focus on the goals at hand. This is why I have teamed up with the Center for Personal Wellness. They take a holistic approach, identify needs, clarify goals, address these in session, and look to develop a positive outcome. It will be my goal to assist individuals and families in getting to the place that they desire.
