Building Connections Brick by Brick: A Lego® Based Group for Kids
We are excited to offer this fun, interactive Lego® Social Skills Group that will help your child work on cooperation, problem solving, reciprocal conversation, attention, and flexibility! This evidence-based therapy group uses the power of Legos®, which are highly structured, predictable and systematic toys, to build social connections and enhance collaboration skills.
So what exactly is this Lego® Group about?
This is a collaborative group where children develop and practice utilizing effective social skills. Children will use Legos®, to build different projects, which will require them to work collaboratively as a team. Led by a trained professional, children form a team to complete structured activities of Lego building projects. Through these activities, children learn and practice skills related to communicating with others, express their feelings, develop problem-solving skills and develop a better relationship with the world around them. Skill areas to be targeted include how to greet others, learning to join ongoing activities and extending invitations to peers, self-regulation skills, non-verbal social skills, and sharing and cooperation.
Is my child appropriate for this group?
Is group is appropriate for any child who benefit from improving their social, communication, and critical thinking skills.
This group will be co-ed and the age range is about 5-12 years old.
